Florida's senior-care licenses tell you what a St. Petersburg community can legally do. Here's a plain-language guide.
The license types
Assisted living: Standard, Extended Congregate Care (ECC), or Limited Nursing Services (LNS), plus Limited Mental Health (LMH) where relevant (Chapter 429). Nursing homes: Chapter 400. Home health, hospice, and adult day care each have their own AHCA categories.
Why it matters
The license caps how much care a community can provide — an ECC/LNS assisted living can keep a resident longer than a Standard one. Always verify the current license at quality.healthfinder.fl.gov.
How Tampa Senior Advisor can help
We're a free, local senior-care advisory service for Tampa Bay families. We don't charge you — communities pay us a referral fee only if you choose to move in. If any of this feels overwhelming, tell us what's going on and we'll point you to the right next step, whether or not it involves a paid placement.
